The Branham-Justice UPIKE 31st Annual Scholarship Golf Tournament was recently held in Pikeville at Green Meadow Country Club to benefit student scholarship opportunities at the university. With both morning and afternoon sessions, alumni and friends enjoyed a day out on the links to benefit a good cause. Thirty teams enjoyed the beautiful, private course nestled in the mountains.
With so many students dependent upon the generous gifts of UPIKE donors, the event is much more than a day spent playing a favorite pastime. The tournament raised a record amount this year of nearly $50,000 in scholarship funds.
Without the support of sponsors, the annual tournament wouldn’t be the annual success that it is.
This year’s Naming and Platinum Sponsors were Doug and Felicia Branham; Gold Sponsors were ARC Administrators and Gearheart Communications; and Silver Sponsors were Baird & Baird, PSC, Community Trust Bank, Elliott Companies, J. Smith Lanier & Co., and US Bank. Golfers enjoyed meals and snacks provided by McDonald’s, Texas Roadhouse and Jimmy Johns. Golf carts were sponsored by Food City; photo sponsors were Double Kwik and Giovanni’s Pizza of Pikeville; beverage sponsorship was provided by Pepsi; and the hole-in-one sponsor was Tim Short Auto Group.
Giovanni’s Pizza of Pikeville took home first-place, second-place was Texas Roadhouse of Pikeville and third-place was H20 Construction. Winners were presented with a number of prizes which were sponsored by Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Molony, PLLC.
