Thanks to the generosity of University of Pikeville alumni and friends, the Undergraduate Student Emergency Fund will assist students faced with temporary or unusual undue hardships
Funds will be awarded on a case-by-case basis. The student’s financial need, the type of the funding request, and the availability of funds will be taken into consideration when allocating this award. A committee at the university will review each application.
Awards will not exceed $500. Expenses covered but are not limited to: Medicines/prescriptions, emergency food/clothing, electric needs, housing, medical bills, or transportation bills.
Eligible Requirements:
Institutional Scholarships are awards that are funded by the university. All institutional scholarships have the following requirements:
Students coming out of high school or who transfer in less than 30 credits will receive a GPA scholarship based on their high school GPA. Students that transfer with 30 or more credits from another institution will receive the award based on the calculated GPA from their transfer credits.
Official high school and college transcripts must be on file before Scholarship can be awarded
*Freshmen only ** Students may receive only one Dual Credit scholarship or Other Activity scholarship, these do not stack with each other.
Students may receive two athletic and/or Organization scholarships (band, choir, OMPS, OSP) for those that started classes at UPIKE in 2022/2023 or later. Students may receive two Supplemental (Gov, Roger, DC, Early College, regional recruiter) scholarships.
All UPIKE scholarships are based on full-time enrollment (12 or more credits per semester).
Scholarship Purpose:
The purpose of the fund is to assist with student retention by partially filling the financial gap needed so as to allow a student who has finished a school semester still owing any required balance to enroll in the following semester and/or to graduate, and to receive an award up to eighty (80%) of their outstanding balance.
The maximum award shall not exceed the sum of $4,000 in any one-calendar school year.
Scholarship Criteria
Please write at least 250 words in length about your educational experience at UPIKE, your financial situation, and how you would use this scholarship to help you continue leaning and preparing for your future.
This $1000 scholarship will provide assistance to Education Majors attending The University of Pikeville to help cover the cost of their education.
Student must submit an essay. The essay must be at least 500 words in length about your educational experience at UPIKE and how you would use this scholarship to help you continue learning and preparing to teach the next generation.

The purpose of the fund is to provide assistance to a first-generation undergraduate student at the University of Pikeville.

Joshua Henson Memorial Scholarship Fund
This $1,000 scholarship will provide assistance to an undergraduate student at the University who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s. This scholarship will help offset the cost of tuition and on-campus living expenses for the student
Scholarship Criteria:
UPIKE will give Legacy Awards to students entering in the fall semester who have an immediate family member who has graduated from Pikeville College/UPIKE. Each award will be based of availability and is renewable for four years.
This full-ride scholarship will include room and board and is renewable for up to eight semesters or until the completion of a bachelor’s degree, as long as selected students meet renewal criteria.
A scholarship committee will review applications. In addition to ensuring that all applicants meet the required criteria, the committee will review the personal statements to establish a list of finalists. All finalists will be invited for an interview. Preference will be given to residents of Kentucky.

The University of Pikeville Alumni Association Scholarship will be awarded each fall to one undergraduate student at the university. The student must have an immediate relative who is an alumna/alumnus of the University of Pikeville and meet the listed criteria.
Please note: The recipient will receive up to $2,000 for one academic year ($1,000/semester).
A 3.0 GPA must be maintained during the fall semester or the scholarship will not be continued for the spring semester.
This is considered a one-time scholarship, however, past recipients can reapply each year.

The purpose of the Fund is to provide assistance to first-generation undergraduate students at the University who show a financial need. Preference will be given to a student who is a member of the ACE Program. The student recipient must have a grade point average of 2.0 or higher. This is a one-year scholarship of $1,000, which will help offset the cost of tuition and/or on-campus Living Expenses. A new student will be selected each year.
To apply, the student must submit an application to the university scholarship committee. The university scholarship committee will then review all applications and select the student recipient.

Kentucky Nursing Incentive Scholarship Eligibility: Kentucky residents admitted to an approved nursing program who agree to work full time as nurses in Kentucky one year for each year funded. For prelicensure nursing programs, students must complete at least 15 credit hours per academic year of published nursing program requirements.
For the graduate nursing program, students must complete at least 9 credit hours per academic year of core nursing courses required. Must maintain a minimum GPA. Scholarship must be repaid if program or work requirement is not met.
