Tuition and Other Costs

As a private institution of higher education, UPIKE does not receive a fixed amount of state or federal funding. Student tuition covers approximately one-third of the educational cost. Therefore, to support its academic programs, UPIKE solicits and accepts funding from foundations, corporations, endowments, alumni, parents and friends.

Additionally, UPIKE administers an extensive federal, state and institutional financial aid program to continue providing students with excellent instruction and pleasant living conditions at a modest expense. 

Cost of Attendance (COA) 

These fees are subject to annual revision. All students, including those with financial limitations, are urged to seek financial assistance early from the Office of Financial Aid. 

Tuition is just one part of the cost to attend college.  There are other costs a student may incur to come to school.  This is called the Cost of Attendance.  These other costs may be on-campus living expenses, off-campus rent, transportation back and forth to school/home, supplies, and other miscellaneous expenses. 

Direct Costs – These are charges that are assessed by the University directly such as tuition, on-campus living expenses, graduation fee.  There are NO book costs to students. 

Indirect Costs – These are all the other costs mentioned above but are not charged or provided by the University directly. 

Below are estimated 2025-2026 academic year COA attendance budgets for students by the academic program. 

Undergraduate tuition is calculated at a flat rate for standard full-time status. Enrollment above or below the standard full-time status is calculated by the credit hour. Tuition rates are reviewed each year and may be subject to annual increases.

  • 1. Current students must have a class schedule in order to apply for Housing. 
  • 2. First time to UPIKE students must pay an enrollment deposit prior to attending. Once this payment is processed, the student account will be created and the student will gain access to their email and all other UPIKE services. This access is also required to apply for housing.  
  • 3. This deposit is applied to the student’s account and can offset the  Student Activities Fee at UPIKE. 
  • 4. Unused food plans are forfeited at the end of the semester. Any unused Bear Bucks may be carried over from fall to spring (as long as the student is still enrolled) but will be forfeited at the end of spring.

  3. Undergraduate books will be bundled into tuition charges for the 2025-2026 year. Student cost of attendance includes amount for materials and equipment.
  4. Graduation Fee – $100.  Will be added to Direct Cost in student’s final semester of their program once a graduation application is completed.

    • If students require multiple attempts at the NCLEX, they may request an increase in their COA for a total of three attempts as long as the cost of the exam is prior to the student leaving school. 

Social Work 

  • *$200 Class fee in 4th year 
  • $415 Professional Certification fee in 4th year 

Teacher Education Program 

  • *$500 class fee in 3rd year 
  • *$400 Class fee in 4th year 
  • $500 Professional Certification fee in 3rd year 

Students receiving loans will have a loan fee added to their COA.

    The cost of attending a four-year doctor of osteopathic medicine program varies from school to school. At KYCOM, the cost of attending is inclusive of many benefits not provided at other institutions, including: 

    • OPP table 
    • White coat and scrub suit 
    • Diagnostic equipment (stethoscope, ophthalmoscope, etc.) 
    • Use of an iPad with Apple Care and all required textbooks 
    • Membership dues paid to the Student Osteopathic Medical Association (SOMA) 
    • Fees paid for the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners COMLEX-USA Level 1 and Level 2-CE board exams (for first attempts only) 
    • COMLEX-USA Level 1 examination preparation program

    • 3 – Most of the Indirect Costs are based on the number of months in the Academic Year.  If you miss rotations, your overall COA may be adjusted.

    Note: Disbursements are usually processed within two weeks of the term starting. Please budget your personal and household costs in accordance with these payment dates.
