Former Pike County Commonwealth’s Attorney Rick Bartley will be the featured speaker for the University of Pikeville College of Arts and Sciences’ Judicial Speakers Series. The event, sponsored by the Kentucky Bar Association, will be held Monday, April 22 at 7 p.m. in the Health Professions Education Building, seventh floor. Campus and the community are cordially invited to attend the event to celebrate the Pikeville College alumnus and servant leader. A 1977 graduate of Pikeville College, Bartley earned his law degree from the University of Kentucky in 1980 and practiced law privately in Pikeville until 1984. He then served as the county’s assistant commonwealth’s attorney for nine years, before returning to private practice. In 2001, Bartley was elected Pike County’s commonwealth’s attorney, a position he held until last year, when he retired from active law practice. In 2005, Bartley was named the Outstanding Commonwealth’s Attorney in Kentucky and in 2015 he received the Carroll Redford Award as Kentucky’s outstanding prosecutor.
